Erica Sanes is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Acupuncturist based in South Florida. She holds dual master’s degrees: one in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine (2014), and another in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.Ed., 2021); reflecting her commitment to bridging Eastern and Western healing traditions.
Erica’s work is grounded in the belief that the mind, body, and spirit are deeply interconnected, and that meaningful healing must address all aspects of a person’s experience. Her therapeutic approach blends evidence-based mental health practices with somatic therapies, acupuncture, and a range of holistic modalities drawn from decades of study, practice, and personal exploration.
During her time at the Atlantic Institute, Erica trained extensively in addiction, autoimmune conditions, internal medicine, women’s health, herbal medicine, and sports medicine. Her acupuncture practice integrates the Balance Method, a system developed by the late Dr. Richard Tan, which uses minimal and distal needling to produce rapid shifts in the body’s energetic flow.
She has trained with Michelle Gellis, L.Ac., a leader in facial rejuvenation acupuncture and the treatment of neuromuscular facial conditions such as stroke recovery, Bell’s Palsy, and MS.
Alongside her classical acupuncture education, Erica pursued advanced international trainings in sound and color light healing. These studies expanded her understanding of vibrational healing as a powerful tool for emotional, energetic, and physical balance. Through experiential work with frequency, tone, and chromatic light, she explored how subtle energy fields can influence the nervous system, mood regulation, and overall well-being. This deepened appreciation for non-verbal, sensory-based healing modalities ultimately inspired her to expand into the psychological and emotional realms—leading her to pursue licensure as a mental health counselor.
As a therapist, Erica specializes in somatic and depth-centered therapy, working at the intersection of ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience. Her integrative approach incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Neuro Emotional Technique (NET), SMART Recovery, mindfulness-based practices, and attachment theory, alongside practices informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jungian psychology, and other holistic and esoteric frameworks.
Erica holds certifications in DBT through The Linehan Institute/Behavioral Tech, and EMDR through Insight Counseling Center.
Her clinical focus centers on helping individuals heal emotional trauma, alleviate anxiety, and address feelings of disconnection and low self-worth. Employing a somatic approach combined with breathwork, body awareness, intuitive practices, and shadow work, she supports clients in exploring and integrating all aspects of themselves, including those parts often hidden or rejected. This deep inner exploration allows clients to uncover and transform limiting beliefs, unresolved emotional wounds, and internal conflicts that may be driving self-sabotaging behaviors.
Through this process, clients develop a stronger, more compassionate relationship with themselves, increasing emotional resilience and self-acceptance. This integration fosters a greater sense of authenticity and embodiment, empowering clients to live more fully present lives with enhanced self-awareness and deeper connection to their personal values and relationships.
